Exoscale is happy to announce today that it has joined the Helix Nebula initiative. Along with other commercial IaaS providers, Exoscale will feed capacity via a unique brokerage platform.

Exoscale makes a partnership with the science cloud Helix Nebula

What is Helix Nebula?

The Helix Nebula project was established by public and private organizations to build a multidisciplinary cloud platform for data intensive science. Part of the initiative is the Helix Nebula Marketplace (HNX), which delivers seamless, on-demand and large-scale access to a range of commercial cloud services. This innovative broker technology has been successfully tested over the last two years with flagship applications from CERN, EMBL and ESA. CERN is currently using it for the first time under commercial terms.

How does it work?

Helix Nebula works mostly through the orchestration platform from Sixsq called Slipstream which has the ability to deploy and manage workloads across multiple clouds. Using standard API connectors, Slipstream connects to the Exoscale compute API to provision servers in a matter of seconds, an attribute that is well appreciated in the science ecosystem.

More information about the project can be had from the Helix Nebula website.

The Helix Nebula Marketplace will be presented and demonstrated at the Cloud Expo Europe (booth 300), 11-12 March 2015 in London and during CloudScape VII 9-10 March 2015 in Brussels.
